The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is investing $207 million in renewable energy and domestic fertilizer projects across 42 states. This funding, supported by President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act, aims to lower energy bills, create jobs, and strengthen competition for farmers. The Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) will receive $157 million for 675 projects promoting renewable energy infrastructure and justice initiatives. The Fertilizer Production Expansion Program (FPEP) will receive $50 million for seven projects to enhance domestic fertilizer production. These investments align with the Biden administration’s goals of promoting clean energy, supporting rural economies, and addressing climate change. Projects include solar installations, energy-efficient measures, and advancements in fertilizer production facilities. Since the start of the administration, USDA has invested over $166 million in 40 FPEP projects and over $1.6 billion through REAP, supporting renewable energy and energy efficiency improvements.
