Study finds top EVs retain over 95% battery capacity, even after 62,000 miles
A study by Swedish used-vehicle retailer Carla, using data from AVILOO battery tests, has found that several electric-vehicle models retain most of their battery capacity after years of use, with the Kia e-Niro leading at 97.25% after more than 62,000 miles. The Hyundai Kona Electric and Kia EV6 also performed well, and Tesla’s Model 3 with a CATL lithium iron phosphate battery retained 93.34%. The study highlights the importance of battery chemistry and suggests modern EV batteries degrade more gradually than expected.
