Not only has this past month been eventful in funding and awards, but it has also been full of alternative fuel education and networking events across the state. From biofuels to EVs to the celebration of the Indianapolis 500, the Greater Indiana team and board, as well as some of our members, have enjoyed the beautiful spring Indiana weather while promoting alternative fuel technologies.
The Indiana Soybean Alliance Membership and Policy Committee (M&P) and the Indiana Corn Growers Association (ICGA) hosted the High Performance, Low Carbon Liquid Fuel Summit at the Dallara IndyCar Factory in Speedway, Indiana. This summit brings together biofuels industry stakeholders, retail fuel business owners, and farmers to discuss the environmental benefits, economic potential, and overall value of corn-based ethanol and soybean-based biodiesel.
Helena Jette, Greater Indiana Clean Cities, Inc. Board President and Director of Biofuels for the Indiana Soybean Alliance (ISA) and Indiana Corn Marketing Council (ICMC), spoke about the state being the sixth-largest producer of biodiesel in the country and how the production of diesel creates measurable economic benefits across Indiana. Greater Indiana Board Treasurer and Director of the American Lung Association’s Clean Air Initiatives, Bailey Arnold, spoke about the importance of the B20 Club of Indiana.
Greater Indiana’s Executive Director, Kerri Garvin, participated in the Indiana Heartland EV Roundtable hosted by Techcom and organized by Mark Bowell of Tesco. Many key alternative fuel industry stakeholders, such as Motor/AES Indiana and Purdue University, were invited to discuss the future of transportation technologies with Congressman Greg Pence. Conversations were based on public policies, energy and sources of energy, current and future infrastructure, and lastly, the transportation system’s future.
This year, Greater Indiana’s Executive Director, Kerri Garvin, was invited by Tesco to attend the annual 500 Festival Breakfast at the Brickyard. This event gathers racing fans, business leaders, Indiana mayors, and the 500 Festival Princesses at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for an action-packed Hoosier tradition. The morning’s festivities started by honoring Indiana’s mayors. Mayor Hogsett of Indianapolis welcomed over 70 mayors from all corners of Indiana to acknowledge and celebrate the civic leaders’ work advancing Hoosier communities. While walking through the exciting activities and booths in Gasoline Alley, Greater Indiana members, such as Duke Energy, were spotted sharing information about the current and future advancements in alternative fuel transportation.
