Kenworth Announces Production of Cummins X15N Natural Gas Engine Trucks

Kenworth is set to begin producing T680 and T880 truck models equipped with the new Cummins X15N natural gas engine in Q3 2024.

The X15N, which is powered by Compressed Natural Gas, Renewable Natural Gas, or Liquefied Natural Gas, is the first 15-liter natural gas engine offering diesel-like power, range, and performance, making it suitable for various haul operations.

• Power and performance: Delivers 400 to 500 horsepower and up to 1,850 lb.-ft. of torque
• Emissions compliance: Meets EPA and CARB 2024 Low NOx standards
• Fuel Economy: Offers up to 10% better fuel economy compared to Cummins’ 12-liter natural gas engine
• Fuel System Flexibility: Compatible with multiple CNG and RNG fuel systems, supporting up to 175 diesel gallon equivalent (DGE) for extended range
