NGVAmerica’s 2023 Industry Summit and Annual Meeting honored ten organizations and individuals for their significant contributions to advancing natural gas as a transportation fuel. Among the awardees was State Rep. Randy Frye of Indiana, who was honored as an NGV Public Policy Champion. Frye led a legislative coalition to pass House Bill 23-1454, rectifying Indiana’s taxation of natural gas motor fuel. The bill ensures that state taxes on natural gas motor fuel are calculated based on the diesel gallon equivalent actually sold at the fueling dispenser, correcting an overtax rate issue. Frye’s efforts contributed to a more equitable tax structure for CNG motor fuel in Indiana. All awardees were praised for their dedication to advancing natural gas as a cleaner transportation fuel, contributing to healthier communities with reduced emissions.
“We are genuinely proud to award these hardworking individuals and organizations for the work that they do and the communities they serve,” said NGVAmerica President Dan Gage. “Because of their contributions, we are moving to make communities healthier with fewer emissions through the increased use of readily available, carbon-negative renewable natural gas as a transportation fuel.”
