Alex Hakes is joining the Greater Indiana Clean Cities, Inc. as a McKinney Climate Fellow for the summer of 2023. The McKinney Climate Fellows program is a workforce-development program focused on providing real-world, hands-on experience for both undergraduate and graduate students interested in the sustainability field. Fellows tackle climate, sustainability, and community resilience projects and challenges across the state of Indiana.
Alex is currently a graduate student studying Sustainability and Public Financial Management and will receive his Master of Public Affairs (MPA) degree from Indiana University’s O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs in May 2024. While the university is in session, he works as a Teaching Assistant and a Graduate Assistant in the Undergraduate Programs Office. Alex’s post-graduation goals include working in the sustainability field, focusing on optimizing manufacturing and supply chain technologies.
Alex will help grow Greater Indiana’s outreach and advance the work on specific projects, such as alternative fuel and technology outreach and demonstration events, educational tours of fleet operations and infrastructure, and data and research compilation for alternative fuel projects.
