The Indianapolis Office of Sustainability has completed the eleventh action item in the Thrive Indianapolis sustainability plan by hosting six educational events for Marion County residents to increase awareness of the benefits of electric vehicle (EV) ownership. The goal was fulfilled with the successful third annual Indy EV Showcase, following the launch of the Highly EVolved campaign in 2021, focusing on EV education and awareness. The initiative aligns with Thrive Indianapolis’ objective to increase EV ownership by 300% by 2025. The efforts are part of broader climate solutions to improve air quality, promote economic growth, and create equitable infrastructure. The EV education projects are funded through the Federal Highway Administration’s Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) Improvement Program.
“Electric vehicle education is an important part of the City’s comprehensive efforts to scale and implement climate solutions that will help grow the local economy, as well as improve air quality and create more equitable infrastructure,” said Mayor Joe Hogsett. “As the technology improves and becomes more affordable, we will continue to equip community members with the knowledge to make the decisions that are best for their families and businesses.”
