The Franklin Mayor’s Youth Leadership Council (FMYLC) is set to enhance electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure in downtown Franklin by installing the city’s second EV charger at the DriveHubler.com Amphitheater in Youngs Creek Park. The $9,500 bid from Davis Electric to install the charger was approved by Franklin’s Board of Public Works and Safety. FMYLC will cover half the cost through fundraising, with the city funding the rest. The AC Level Two Charger will be capable of charging two vehicles simultaneously and is expected to be operational by the end of April. Duke Energy will handle maintenance and installation at no cost to the city. The move aligns with the growing popularity of electric vehicles, with Franklin experiencing a significant increase in ownership over the past few years. The initiative aims to encourage people to explore downtown Franklin and contribute to the city’s continued economic and population growth. FMYLC, comprising Franklin Community High School students, is committed to empowering student leaders through service projects that benefit the community.
