EIA Reports Increases in Ethanol Production and Exports

U.S. fuel ethanol production rose by 5% the week ending May 24, as reported by the U.S. Energy Information Administration, or EIA. Production averaged 1.068 million barrels per day, a significant increase from the previous week’s 1.019 million barrels. Compared to the same week last year, production was up by 64,000 barrels.

Ethanol stocks decreased by over 4%, dropping to 23.207 million barrels, down from 24.212 million barrels the previous week. Despite this drop, stocks were still up by 875,000 barrels compared to the same week last year.

Exports saw a remarkable surge, increasing by 155% to an average of 212,000 barrels per day, up from 83,000 per day the previous week. This marks an increase of 158,000 per day compared to the same week in 2023. No ethanol imports were reported for the week ending May 24.
