Exelon, in collaboration with partners such as CALSTART, EPRI, Clean Energy Works, WRI, and EEI, has released a white paper highlighting the substantial benefits of transitioning to electric school buses, aligning with the Clean School Bus (CSB) Program introduced under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law of 2021.
The CSB Program, with $5 billion designated over the next five years, represents a landmark initiative to replace diesel school buses, contributing to improved air quality for students nationwide. The significance of the program is further underscored by the EPA’s commitment to future funding rounds. In September 2023, the EPA announced a third round of funding through the CSB Program, allocating an additional $500 million for rebates. Applications for this round are due by January 31, 2024.
In addition to these developments, the recipients of the 2023 grant program have been announced. As the EPA plans to continue administering future funding rounds, school districts not previously selected are encouraged to reapply for upcoming opportunities.
Recognizing the importance of this initiative, Greater Indiana is ready to offer assistance. Our team is prepared to provide support in grant writing and offer letters of support to strengthen applications, ensuring they meet the January 31, 2024 deadline. This collaborative effort aims to empower school districts, facilitating their participation in the CSB Program and maximizing the benefits of transitioning to electric school buses.
