This spring, Indianapolis building owners and facilities managers of structures exceeding 50,000 square feet can attend free, in-person workshops called “Data Jams.” Hosted by the Indianapolis Office of Sustainability with support from the American Institute of Architects Indiana, these workshops guide participants on using the ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager software to track utility data. The initiative aims to promote energy efficiency and compliance with the city’s Energy Benchmarking and Transparency Ordinance, enacted in 2021. The Thriving Buildings program, launched two years ago, seeks to reduce carbon emissions by 27%, achieve utility bill savings, enhance air quality, and create job opportunities by 2030. Participants are encouraged to register in advance and bring a laptop for hands-on learning.
