The Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) has introduced Veterans for Renewable Fuels (VRF), an initiative aimed at military veterans and their immediate family members working in the U.S. ethanol industry. The goal of VRF is to recognize and celebrate the contributions of veterans in the industry, offering opportunities for networking and mutual support. According to the Department of Energy, nearly one out of every six workers in the ethanol industry is a veteran, three times the rate of the national labor force. VRF will serve as an informational resource, allowing veterans to share their stories and experiences with policymakers, the media, and the general public. The initiative will also sponsor networking opportunities, including a 2024 National Ethanol Conference kickoff event. The co-chairs of VRF sent a letter to President Joe Biden, thanking him for his commitment to domestic bioenergy and urging the administration to fully embrace the national security benefits of homegrown renewable fuels like ethanol.
