Symbio, Michelin and Hyzon present Hydrogen Trucks

Symbio, a hydrogen fuel cell developer, recently unveiled a hydrogen-fueled Class 8 truck. The truck is equipped with Michelin EV-specific tires that offer improved fuel economy and reduced wear.

The reveal is part of Symbio’s H2 Central Valley Express project, which aims to develop and demonstrate a hydrogen fuel cell truck that performs the same as a 15-liter diesel truck.
Symbio’s goal is to provide a zero-emission alternative for regional-haul trucking affairs.

Michelin provided the truck with low-rolling resistance tires, which seek to improve the vehicle’s longevity and efficiency. The hydrogen truck is expected to debut by the end of 2024 and will operate and collect data for a year in California.

Hyzon also recently unveiled a hydrogen fuel cell refuse truck, the company’s acclaimed first-ever hydrogen-powered refuse truck in North America. Hyzon attests that the truck’s hydrogen fuel cells can provide power over 125 miles, including up to 1,200 cart lifts and trips to the transfer station.

The truck is set to begin test runs on various routes in California.
