Accelera™ by Cummins, the zero-emission branch of Cummins Inc., has achieved a significant milestone by powering North America’s inaugural hydrogen passenger train. The train, called the Coradia iLint, is produced by Alstom, a global leader in green and smart mobility. The Coradia iLint train, operating in Canada as part of Alstom’s demonstration project, utilizes Accelera fuel cells and green hydrogen for propulsion. Mounted on the train’s roof, the Accelera fuel cells convert hydrogen into electricity, making the train emission-free.
“Together with our visionary partners, we are reshaping the way people travel and inspiring a future where efficiency, sustainability and innovation go hand in hand,” said Alison Trueblood, General Manager of Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Technologies at Accelera. “By leveraging the capabilities of hydrogen-powered technology and our expertise in green hydrogen production, we’re driving innovation – providing zero-emission solutions for the urban mobility challenges today’s congested cities face.”
Accelera is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of innovation and contributing to a sustainable future. The Coradia iLint train will operate for passenger rides until the end of September, demonstrating the potential of hydrogen-powered technology in the transportation sector.
