We connected with Propane Fueling Solutions at Work Truck Week this year and saw their new standalone fleet fueling system at the Propane Education & Research Council’s (PERC)
booth. This system allows alternative fuel vehicles to recharge with DC level 3 fast chargers or refuel with propane autogas. A 60kW propane generator powered by wind and solar energy creates a microgrid that allows for charging independent of the grid and an affordable drop-in charging solution for fleets to implement.
“For fleets that run propane autogas and electric vehicles, this is a solution that can’t be beat. It’s fully portable, scalable, runs reliably regardless of the weather, and can be installed in as little as 24 hours,” said Steve Whaley, director of autogas business development at PERC. “The propane autogas vehicles can be refueled and back on the road within minutes, and EVs can be charged reliably through propane-generated power. It’s time fleets have truly resilient energy sources, and propane provides that.”
Greater Indiana Members Propane People, Premier Ag Co-Op, Ceres Solutions, and Co-Alliance provide Hoosiers with propane autogas, while Blue Bird, ROUSH CleanTech, and MacAllister Machinery provide Hoosiers with propane vehicles.
