Indiana VW Mitigation Trust Fund Plan Development Ramping Up

Over the next few months, several meetings and workshops will be held around the state to assist in the planning and use of Indiana’s $41 million dollar VW Mitigation Trust Fund settlement.  Read on to learn when, where and how your thoughts on the best use of the funds can be heard and how your fleet can begin preparing to benefit from the funds.

IDEM and VW Mitigation Trust Fund Committee Members Hosts First of Five Statewide VW Mitigation Trust Public Meeting

The State must submit a Beneficiary Mitigation Plan (BMP) to Wilmington Trust, the VW Settlement national trustee, for approval in order to access the trust funds. The information collected through the comment period will be used to inform the Final BMP submitted for approval.   Indiana’s Beneficiary Mitigation Plan will be based on clean diesel projects that can produce the greatest air quality benefit in terms of diesel emission reductions, with a particular focus on nitrogen oxide (NOx) emission reductions. Indiana also seeks innovative projects that will have lasting impacts on not only Indiana’s air quality, but its infrastructure and economy as well.
