Emergency Preparedness and Energy Reliability

Use of alternative fuel vehicles have been shown to increase reliability and the response time during a natural disaster. When petroleum supplies were disrupted after Hurricanes Sandy, Harvey, and Irma, numerous public transportation vehicles were able to keep operating due to using alternative fuels, such as CNG. A diverse fuel mix mitigates an area’s vulnerability to fuel shortages, which is why Clean Cities are working with emergency managers and disaster preparedness groups.
