In 2012, Carl and Trish Schwabe, owners of Sunoco Midwest Clean Fuels, a retail fuel station in Crawfordsville, Indiana, made the business decision to offer CNG as a transportation fuel. Many of their fleet customers had indicated an interest in using CNG, and the Schwabe thought that they could, perhaps, capture truck fleet traffic that passes their location at 2501 Lafayette Rd Crawfordsville, IN 47933 off of I74, west of Indpls.
Their local bank provided a loan, a leap of faith many banks were not yet willing to take with CNG stations, and installed a dispenser with two nozzles and 100 gallons of storage.
Since opening his station, demand has grown, so much so that the decision was made to upgrade to faster compressors and install a total of 1000 gallons of storage. The compressors can make 6000 DGE of fuel a day; ensuring future capacity can easily be obtained.
